I had a wonderful experience sitting on in Professor Lichtman's Copyright Law class. I am interested in practicing Entertainment law, and hence, found the content of his lecture very informative. However, I was also pleased that he would continuously encourage the class to be good lawyers. He viewed cases with a moral discretion, reminding us to keep our client's best interest at heart. For example, he analyzed the case, CCNV v. Reid, where a non-profit organization and volunteer artist came together to produce a sculpture with the purpose of raising awareness and donations for the homelessness crisis. Although the two had a disagreement and the case was eventually litigated, Professor Lichtman discussed how the case should be considered malpractice since the attorneys overlooked the main goal of the two parties. Instead of appreciating the two coming together for a great purpose, the case fought minor unnecessary details. I was delighted to know that professors were encouraging their students to be good lawyers. Not only did he teach the law, but he also provided guidance to aspiring attorneys. I can proudly say that I enjoyed his lecture and learning something meaningful.
